Discovery I Encounters I Conviviality...

Here's our recipe for launching our 2024 edition!

For the occasion, we invite you to meet the festival team, the selection committee and the jury... but that's not all.

This evening kicks off our 38th edition with the premiere of the film ‘A l'affût aux loups’, a unique moment of escape combining wild nature, photography and watercolours. After the screening, Yves Fagniart will talk about his unique experience: a year in a cabin in the heart of the polar taiga, with the sole desire to disappear and make way for an animal that is emblematic of our imaginations: the wolf.

Join us on the opening night of this 38th edition.

Documentary I 2023 I Belgium I 1h22

Share a whole year in the life of a pack of wolves, immersed in a wild landscape populated by brown bears throughout the four seasons.

Somewhere in the no-man's-land between Finland and Russia, Olivier, the photographer, and Yves, the painter, lock themselves in a blind.

Voluntarily confined and virtually invisible, they have a front-row seat to follow the intimate and extraordinary daily life of Europe's biggest predators.

'L'affût aux loups' is a unique invitation to take part in the Grand Spectacle du Sauvage.

Protagonist of the film, naturalist watercolourist, illustrator

A runner in the woods from the cradle, a lover of birds from nursery school and a wolf enthusiast in primary school, Yves Fagniart has always had his eyes and ears open to living things; and found in it the marvellous, the sacred.

He discovered watercolour painting at the age of 30 and made it his profession.

His great joy is to convey his emotions on paper, through the alchemy of water and pure pigments, remaining faithful to the animal as closely as possible
