GAZ RUSSE : LA DERNIÈRE ROUTE DES NENETS
[RUSSIAN GAS: THE NENETS' LAST ROAD]

Sergio Ghizzardi

Documentary l Belgium, France, Norway, Finland I 2023 l 1h16

At the heart of the Arctic, the Yamal Peninsula is Russia's gas vault, the world's largest gas production area.
85% of Russian gas comes from Yamal.
In Yamal, the Nenets have been migrating from the north to the south of the peninsula for over 200 generations. Will they be able to survive this greed and over-industrialisation?

A polar and environmental western, this documentary plunges us into the emergence of the North-East Sea Route and the disappearance of the last Siberian transhumance route.
The success of one may mean the extinction of the other.
